Security and Privacy Group
> Zum Inhalt

The Security and Privacy group (S&P) was established in April 2017 under the supervision of Univ. Prof. Matteo Maffei at the Faculty of Informatics of TU Wien. Prof. Lindorfer joined in 2018 and Prof. Georg Fuchsbauer in 2019.

The overarching mission of the group is to develop methods and tools to design secure applications and to protect the privacy of users in modern information systems.

In particular, the group works on a wide-spectrum of research topics, including cryptography, system security, formal methods for security and privacy, privacy-enhancing technologies, and blockchain technologies.

The Blockchain Research Lab (BRL) was established in September 2018 and is situated in the Security and Privacy Research Division at TU Wien. The lab is headed by Dr. Pedro Moreno-Sanchez.

Our lab carries out research that agglutinates privacy-enhacing technologies, cryptographic protocols, distributed systems and data analysis. We formalize the security and privacy notions of interest for current blockchain-related technologies and build cryptographic protocols that achieve them with formally proven guarantees. Our current research projects majorly focusses on blockchain scalability systems such as the Lightning Network, anonymity networks, interoperability across blockchains and routing of transactions among the different blockchains available today.

Our work is supported by FWF Lisa Meitner, Chaincode Labs and CoBloX.

If you are interested in doing research with us, check our open positions!
